The family and I decided to go for some Chinese food one evening, the kids wanted to go to one of those buffets and I being the driver was trying to find a way to stay close to home. My wife suggested Tasty China around the corner. The first thing that went through my mind was, that place has been there forever. So I wasn’t to sure about the suggestion but it was close to home. You know the old saying “Don’t judge a book by it cover”. It was not at all what I was expecting. They have plenty of room, and we were seated right away. There selection of dishes listed by meats, poultry, and fish, was overwhelming. Everyone in our group had no problem selecting dinner. We stared of with and order of Pot Stickers, they were well made and the seasoned meat was awesome. Our selections for the meal that night included Sesame Chicken, Shrimp Lo-Main, and General Chicken. I was surprised that the Lo-Main was served with Angle Hair pasta, most other placed we go to serve Lo-Main with Linguini noodles. Everyone opted for steamed rice, which was served in a large covered bowl for [...]

In regards to full version, Adobe Acrobat 6 / Windows XP Pro I have read many forums regarding users trying to utilize the “create document from scanner” option in Adobe Acrobat. The public response to the users problems include, “did you check your cable, maybe you need another driver, or did you reboot”. In fact, I only found one post, and very brief, 3 paragraphs roughly, that indicated a possible success to the issue. None of the above ideas came close to the fix. The reason it was so difficult to find, was the repetitive, poor advice of people who actually had no clue, and just thought they would type something, instead of something intelligent. If you really do not know, keep your fingers off the keyboard. If your advice was, “did you plug it in”, you obviously made that stupid mistake, and should not raise the stupid flag. This article is based on the same issue. As I read the same pointless advice over and over, I found the issue encompassed multiple brands of scanners. Users crying foul on the products, and applications. Usually, the problem began sometime after last used successfully, and sometime afterwards ceased. Brilliant [...]

I finally had the opportunity to go out and play with my camera at night. I have been keeping an eye on a group of hobbyist / professional photographers that like to get together and do some type of activity. Someone in this club suggested that we meet one night and use the bulb / slow shutter speeds to take pictures of streaking lights from vehicles on the highway. This was the first time I had gone to one of the meetup’s, I had a great time. I got a pretty good idea of how to use the shutter speed and aperture to make the night sky look black and still let enough light in to make the headlights look white and the tail lights look red. I need to go back and play around and take a lot more pictures. Slipknot

I think my family was in payback mode when they suggested taking me to Dick’s, ( first timer ). I wasn’t ready to be insulted the whole time I was there. I have never seen so much crazy stuff happening in a restaurant by the staff in my life. One guy spent about five minutes messing around with this kid that was trying to get in the door. Every time my kids would come from the restroom he would start chasing them. I found out later that the kids had gone to the restroom and he stacked a bunch of chairs in front of the door so they had to make some type of noise to get out, and then he would chase them. At one point everyone was laughing and I looked around to see him up on a chair with a big glass of water, holding it around his crotch area, and it looked like he was relieving himself into a glass on the table where some customers were sitting. They also like to make hats for customers to wear and you have know idea of what they staff will write on them. I would like to say that the food was good, [...]

Last December, my friend told me his parents killed themselves 6 months before. They were wealthy, in their early 70s, and in relatively good health. His mother was having difficulty swallowing. Her doctor told her she had a mild swallowing condition that would worsen as she aged. And, since she was otherwise healthy, she might live long enough for the problem to worsen; one day, she might even need a feeding tube. Telling no one, my friend’s mom and dad committed suicide. They left behind 2 sons, and numerous grand children. There wasn’t much more to it. The possibility of future suffering was on the horizon and they made a choice. Their choices were to live a full life, filled with the love of their children and grandchildren, but suffer a little today and perhaps more every year until they died of “natural causes”; or commit suicide. As far as my friend knows, psychiatric illness was not a factor. Still stunned today… I ask how do two people with everything to live for, choose to end it all? There are insanities in this world. We’ve heard such stories before. But I thought such things were exceedingly rare. Only eccentric people, [...]

With the school fast approaching I figured I would take the family on a road trip up through the Northeast part of Texas. I use to have family that lived in Greenville long before I could drive. My mother would sometime take Hwy. 66 over to Greenville. I had not traveled past Rockwall going that way in quite sometime. I had to make my way off of 66 so I could even see the old court house there. Thing have changed over there, now Rockwall had redone some roads over there. It was nice to see that the downtown area full of businesses, not much open on Sunday. I was not able to get any photo’s there, so we went on down the road to Fate. There not much in fate except one store, but everyone had to visit the restroom by that time so at least it was there to use. We moved on to Royce City, There was at least some old reminders of the past. The rail line runs parallel to 66 and there is some old areas where they use to load and unload grain. I didn’t realize that a school that my sister was a [...]

I had to head out of my normal driving area and get a part for my wife’s vehicle, so I decided to carry alone my camera and get a few shot’s of some landmark’s that I have seen my whole life and to also see if anything has changed with them. The first photo is of a building near Lavon Texas, the last time I was out that way was quite some time ago and there was no door or glass. After getting the part I needed I decided to head out to Farmersville Texas, and take 380 out toward Princeton. On my way heading West on 380 I seen a sign that there was a WWII POW Camp near by. I decided to head that way and see what I could find. The road was blocked off, and it allowed me to go into a now park that Collin Co. had built. I noticed an old water tower there so I thought that would be something to immortalize with my camera, it won’t be long before these types of high rise landmark will be eaten up by modern development. After I make my way back to 380, I made [...]

Now that it’s all done they have changed from an Asian restaurant to a Tex-Mex restaurant. After looking over the menu we decided to get the Fajitas for two. The hot sauce that was served with chips it was tasteful and chunky. We were surprised to receive an order of fajitas that would be for four people at any other restaurant in this area. There was more and enough beef and chicken with onions and bell peppers to go around. The fajitas were served with rice and beans along with the other garnishments as well. We both enjoyed the fajitas and our side plates of garnishments. We did have to keep asking for more tortillas to go with our meal, which leads me to one of the two things that I didn’t really like. We had to constantly get the attention of our server to get refills of tea. Now the other thing that I didn’t care for was the loud Latino music that comes [...]

This time the family and I checked out J.D. Kabobs at the South West corner of Beltline Rd. and Garland Rd. It’s a all you can eat vegetable bar with kabobs as the entrée. They push the kabobs as the best natural way to eat different kinds of meat and some sea food. There are no spices or sauces on the kabobs, just an open flame to cook what you order. Most of the things on the vegetable bar are worth far more than a few trips back to check everything out. I liked the stuffed Jalapeños, and my kids found enough there to go back several times. I will admit that you will spend what feels like a little bit more than what you get on the kabob, no mater how many trips you make to the veg. bar. The Peanut Butter Pie is to die for, but I don’t want to know how much sugar or any of the bad stuff was in it. They do have milk to help wash down a large piece of PB pie.
